RESEARCH MANAGER
Location: Birmingham
Remuneration: £40k package

WM Enterprise, (WME), is looking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic and driven Research Manager to lead and proactively grow its Market Research Department, (MRD). This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to WME’s economic development and regeneration consultancy in the UK.
WME provides socio-economic research consultancy to a variety of public sector clients. Almost half of the assignments delivered annually require a quantitative or qualitative survey involving interviews either with businesses or individuals. These surveys are typically telephone or face-to-face, but occasionally use postal and electronic approaches, and usually require under 1,000 respondents.
The post will also require the successful applicant to lead the expansion of the MRD service offering and identify and develop new markets both within and outside the public sector.
Role
To lead, manage, and grow the MRD and recruit, train, retain and motivate market researchers to accurately collect information and data. The post holder will also ensure that the division operates efficiently and effectively including through rigorous implementation of planning and quality control systems to ensure surveys are delivered within budget and to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidateis also expected to lead on writing tenders and quotes for opportunities with a large market research component and to attend presentations, as well as assist consultants with the pricing of the market research components of commissions and advise on sample frames, questionnaire design, etc.
Skills
We are looking for an individual with significant experience of working in a senior role in a market research department /market research company, with a broad and practical understanding of market research and the systems / procedures required to undertake research to MRS guidelines and standards.
Excellent organisational and people management skills are essential alongside ICT and database skills (including a good working knowledge of SNAP, SPSS, Access, Excel). Written and oral communication skills are vital as well as a close attention to detail. The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with consultant colleagues, market researchers, partners and clients will also be important.
Knowledge of the workings of both the private and public sectors would be desirable along with Membership of the MRS. Also desirable is a degree with a strong research component or qualifications relating specifically to market research.

PRINCIPAL/SENIOR CONSULTANTS, CONSULTANTS

(i) Principal / Senior Consultants
A chance for highly articulate, passionate and driven economic development and regeneration experts to join our dynamic team, winning and successfully managing and delivering consultancy to public sector clients in the UK (RDAs, local authorities, LSCs, regeneration partnerships, central government departments).
Specialisms Required: The posts include scope to develop new areas of business and to participate in the future strategic development of the consultancy business. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise across economic development and regeneration fields but also those with significant specialisms in one or more of the following: 1) Enterprise and innovation; 2) Economic strategy and analysis, including econometric modelling and forecasting; 3) Employment, labour market and skills; 4) Social policy, including equality and diversity, poverty and worklessness. Proven experience in delivering consultancy assignments to national, regional and local public sector clients is essential, including assignments influencing strategy and policy at the highest level.
Key Qualities Required include: extensive professional consultancy experience in economic development and / or regeneration; a proven track record of writing tenders and securing work; managing, mentoring and inspiring consultancy colleagues; presenting and developing new business opportunities; demonstrable linkages and strong relationships with some of the key clients identified below; a background in successful project management/directing and delivery of projects; proven policy development capability and knowledge in your areas of interest and expertise; strong technical abilities in core areas identified above; and excellent communication, organisational skills & attention to detail.
(ii) Consultants
A chance for highly articulate and driven individuals to join our dynamic team, winning, and successfully managing and delivering consultancy projects to public sector clients in the UK. The posts will be focused on research and project management. We are particularly interested in consultants with expertise in economic development and regeneration. Experience needed in any of the following areas: innovation and business support, economic analysis and research, employment, learning and skills, social policy, health and housing. Key Qualities Required include: several years professional consultancy experience in economic development and/or regeneration; delivering assignments, undertaking research, contributing to and writing reports/tenders as well as securing work; experience in project managing assignments; a self motivated team player looking to advance within the company; and excellent organisational skills & attention to detail.
