UK Consultancy - Innovation Programmes

WM Enterprise has a track record of managing and delivering Innovation Programmes. We offer a unique business model through our ability to bring together expertise in investment activities - managing investment funds and appraising technology opportunities - with our experience of the innovation process. We therefore work closely with technology transfer organisations and SMEs with innovative products, services and processes.

Between September 2003 and December 2006, we successfully delivered the Motivating Merseyside to Innovate (MMBI) Programme on behalf of Northwest Development Agency and Government Office North West (see below for more information). Building on this experience, we are currently delivering the 3 year Knowledge to Innovate Programme (K2i) across the North West region. Knowledge to Innovate Programme (K2i)


Following on from the hugely successful Motivating Merseyside Business to Innovate (MMBI) Programme, we were awarded the £3.2m Knowledge to Innovate contract by NWDA in April 2007. K2i will support Northwest companies in their innovation efforts over the next three years. The programme is being managed and delivered by
WM Enterprise with assistance from our partner C-Tech Innovation.K2i aims to build innovation capacity in medium and smaller sized firms, assisting them to introduce innovation to all aspects of their business. Companies in the NWDA’s six priority growth sectors will be targeted specifically:
(1) Biomedical (2) Advanced Engineering & Materials (3) Digital & Creative Industries (4) Business & Professional Services (5) Food and Drink (6) Energy & Environmental Technologies

As well as support for new product and process development, K2i offers a tailored programme of consultancy support in areas such as innovation leadership, innovation strategy development, embedding innovation within company practices and organisational and cultural change.

Motivating Merseyside Business to Innovate (MMBI)

WM Enterprise successfully delivered throughout 2003-6 the £1.5 million MMBI programme. Co-funded by NWDA and ERDF Objective 1, MMBI ensured that more than 200 Merseyside SMEs integrated innovation into their business strategies, developed new products/services and processes, and reduced time to market. Key delivery partners and associates (Business Link, Merseyside Universities and Northwest Business Leadership Team) provided a tailored programme of support. A network of regional associates with complementary services delivered unrivalled innovation support focusing on bespoke options.

Other Innovation Programme Experience
emda - Strategic assignment which mapped the innovation support requirements of SMEs across the region which contributed to the East Midlands Innovation Strategy. EEDA - A review of managed workspace and business incubation facilities in the East of England region East Hampshire DC - Established the likely demand for enterprise and innovation facilities in East Hampshire to support new businesses. Advantage West Midlands - A business survey on Keele University Science Park in order to ascertain likely expansion requirements of businesses to establish the feasibility of expanding the science park.
